On Wednesday 4 April, aspiring Royal Marines Officer Jack Halstead and I will attempt to run from Marble Arch, London to Arc de Triomphe, Paris, running just over 6 marathons in 2.5 days. The idea was born, planned and decided upon this week, leaving us around 10 days to prepare. Five months since my last real run, this will be a true challenge.
We will leave on the Wednesday morning, hoping to make it to the coast by midnight, where we'll catch a four hour ferry and then run straight off the boat into a 101km day. To finish, a 64km run into the French capital.
There's a high chance we don't achieve our target but we both want to take a positive approach to failure:
"You might never fail on the scale I did, but some failure in life is inevitable. It is impossible to live without failing at something, unless you live so cautiously that you might as well not have lived at all – in which case, you fail by default." J.K. Rowling
90km would be our PB for distance covered in one day. We want to achieve that, then break it the next day, showing that we can achieve much more than we think possible (maybe).
We found two groups who have done this before in around eight days. With the aim of two and a half days this may just be a new world record - let us know if we've missed anything and wish us luck!
Next week from Monday to Sunday, we will be offering 20% off on all our range, including bundles, and donating 20% of all sales to Right to Play - helping children in poverty around the world get into sport. We believe massively in the power of play. Type RTP20 at checkout.
Run love,
